Adrenaline Studio Herndon - Class Descriptions

Creative Dance

(Ages 3 thru 5 years) This program teaches muscle control, concentration, rhythm, discipline coordination, balance, agility and poise.  It consists of tap, ballet, drama, and the use of props such as the balance beam, balls, hoops, ribbon and rhythm sticks and costume accessories.  Our goal is to instill self-confidence and creativity.

Tap/Ballet Combo

(Ages 4 thru 6 years) In this class dancers are introduced to the fundamentals of both tap and ballet styles of dance. Students will master basic tap steps with an emphasis on developing proper technique and clean sounds. Ballet introduces the basics of classical ballet with an emphasis on straight leg, pointed feet and posture. Our goal is to cultivate a love of dance and lay the foundation for years to come.

Tap

Tap classes work to develop a keen sense of rhythm and coordination.  Students will master basic tap
steps and rhythms, and then progress to more complicated combinations and patterns as their skills
increase.  The emphasis is on developing proper tap technique and producing clean and clear tap sounds.

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all dance.

Dancers are introduced to a classical ballet class format that teaches the dancer with an emphasis on straight leg, pointed feet, posture placement and stretching, along with cultivating a true love for ballet. As the dancer completes their recommended level, the class structure will become more demanding and complex. Pointe recommendations will be considered once a dancer reaches the age of twelve and has mastered the fundamentals of ballet.

Pointe

Pre-Pointe class is a pre-requisite for pointe work and is designed for students ages 12 and up who have had at least 2-3 consecutive years of ballet training. Pointe classes can be taken on flat or in pointe shoes at the instructor's discretion. All pointe classes are designed for students with previous ballet training. Students will utilize previously learned ballet techniques while working in pointe shoes. Each class includes barre exercises, center-floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles. Dancers must have instructor approval for this class. Dancers must be enrolled in an additional ballet class along with pointe classes.

Jazz

This program is based on a combination of Contemporary Funk, Broadway and Modern Jazz.  The classes are structured to build strength and develop flexibility, coordination and rhythm.  Dance combinations can consist of classical, musical theatre, or ‘cutting edge’ choreography.  For serious jazz students, ballet is strongly recommended.

JAZZ/FUNK

This style of dance is a hybrid of jazz technique with contemporary influences and hip-hop grooves.  Some of the movements are foundational movements found in both Jazz and Hip Hop such as isolations and flexibility.  Movements are groovy and aggressive with style.   Jazz Funk is a commercial industry dance vibe that is popular on the West Coast.  We have brought in a West Coast dance industry instructor to you here at Adrenaline Studio.

Hip Hop

Our classes integrate the latest Hip-Hop dance moves from the East and West coasts.  Each class begins with stretch and warm-ups, including isolations and strength training.  Students will develop coordination and rhythm while learning dance combinations with very innovative choreography.

Lyrical

This form of dance utilizes both ballet and jazz techniques, emphasizing strength, control and extensions.  Students will focus on technique while learning to dance using different emotions and expressions.  A strong ballet background is necessary for lyrical students.

Musical Theater

Musical Theatre Classes will focus on applying and bringing together the disciplines of dancing, singing, and acting to create an effective presentation.

This class will offer exposure to a Broadway repertoire, interpreting it both musically and dramatically, then creating staging and choreography for performance.

Arco/Tumble - (D)

This class develops extreme flexibility and combines classical dance technique with acrobatic elements. This benefits dancers who want to work on dance tricks such as walk overs, aerials, chin stands, elbow stands, and flexibility elements. Get super FLEXY in this class!

(Drop-In, use a Punch Card or register for the whole year, but not a Showcase Class)

Tricking (D)

This class is for dancers 10 years and older who have foundational skills (walk overs, handstands, forward and backward rolls, and cartwheels) and are looking to gain headsprings, front Sui, front aerial, aerials, Butterfly kicks, 540's, B-twists, Websters, gainers, etc. )

(If you are under 10, please contact Jen directly to discuss if this is the right class for you - AdrenalineStudioAllStars@gmail.com)

(Hamid specializes in tricking and power moves).
